As a graduate of Fordham University, Emily has had more than a decade of experience working with state and federal organizations; and treating couples, families, and individuals of all ages who have struggled with grief and loss, post-traumatic stress due to trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, women’s health issues, and challenging life transitions.
Emily is trained in, and integrates, a number of different treatment modalities and philosophies into her practice. She operates from a strengths-based perspective using proven strategies in the context of a safe and supportive environment.
The more recent half of Emily’s career was been spent working for the New York Army National Guard as the organization’s Senior Behavioral Health Specialist. In this role, she developed a program to provide accessible clinical and educational services to 10,000+ geographically dispersed Service Members, and she provided advisement to senior leaders on psychological health policies, strategies, plans, and operations. She excels at psychological assessment, critical incident response and management, counseling, and providing psychoeducational training to enhance individual and unit functioning. In collaboration with the Center for Deployment Psychology and the Military and Family Research Institute at Perdue University; she implemented the STAR Behavioral Health Provider Program which provides tier-based training to community behavioral health providers so that they can better understand some of the unique challenges faced by Service Members and their families. Such challenges include the deployment cycle, combat injuries, reintegration, military ethos, and command climate. To further develop the professional education of military and civilian providers; she envisioned and implemented the NYARNG Annual Behavioral Health Workshop which successfully attracted international keynote speakers for several years. The success of this state training event led her to the Lead Planning Coordinator role for the Army National Guard Behavioral Health Training Event (BHTE) which attracted behavioral health professionals from across all 54 states and territories. She is recognized locally and nationally as a subject matter expert when it comes to Army National Guard behavioral health-related policies and regulations.
In her spare time, Emily volunteers her time to support the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally, it is presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress. Work with the Medal of Honor Society consists of providing professional expertise to support the psychological health of the recipients and their families.
Emily’s most recent accomplishment has been the establishment of Northpointe Integrative, Inc. in Albany, NY. Here, she is able to continue to serve the military population, as well as law enforcement personnel and first responders.
