For many people, therapy is the best investment they could ever make. It’s a lot like getting the correct eyeglass prescription as it can change the way a person views the world and dramatically improve life satisfaction. That being said, therapy requires a commitment of time, emotional vulnerability, and financial resources. If you want to learn, grow, and heal, or make a good life better….therapy can be the catalyst to open up a new world and a new outlook on life. Consider the investment well worth it.
What information do I need to be aware of if I am paying privately and/or if I do NOT wish to utilize my insurance when paying for services?
In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, we are required to notify all healthcare consumers of your Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing”. This Act requires that we notify you of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by a non-participating provider and provide options to receive care from an in-network provider if one is available. Additionally, we are required to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services for the duration of treatment. It is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental health care, but we will make every effort to provide an estimate based on the average length of treatment. Please click on the link below to review the formal notice detailing the No Surprises Act before calling to schedule an appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, please send us a message below -or- you can email us at hello@northpointeintegrative.com. Please be sure to include the following information in your email:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Insurance Carrier
- Phone Number
- Email Address
- A brief statement about what has led you to reach out for therapy.
Once this information is reviewed, you will receive an email from “TherapyPortal” which will prompt you to create an account and complete various intake documents. Don’t worry…this only takes a few minutes! We will then reach out to you to schedule your first appointment. It’s that easy!!!
I’ve never been to counseling before. What can I expect?
All appointments are 55-60 minutes in length. Your first appointment will provide you with an opportunity to share what has led to your desire to pursue therapy, and it will also be an opportunity to determine if you are a good fit for the clinician you are working with, and for the clinician to determine if you are good fit for her or him. The length of therapy differs with each person which, together with your therapist, you will evaluate throughout the therapeutic process. Ultimately, therapy is complete when you feel confident that you’ve developed the skills and tools to cope with the emotional challenges that brought you to therapy, to begin with.
How do I know if the therapist I am working with is the right therapist for me?
In order to get the full benefits of therapy, you have to put your mental health in the right persons’ hands. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy, and the professional that works well for someone else, might not work well for you. You will likely know after a couple of sessions if your therapist is a good match for you. You can expect that conversations will be approached without bias, judgment, or condescension. You will know that and your clinician are a good fit if you:
-
- Feel you connected and building good rapport.
- Feel supported, heard, and understood.
- Find yourself opening up and talking about things that you don’t normally talk about.
- Feel like you take the things you learn and discover in session with you and think about them over the week.
- Feel like your therapist is easy to talk to.
What happens if I run into my therapist in public?
In an effort to protect you, your privacy, and your confidentiality; your therapist will not acknowledge you in public unless you acknowledge your therapist first. If your therapist were to say “hi” to you in public, they might be unknowingly putting you in the uncomfortable position of explaining who your therapist is and why you know them. There is no shame in seeking therapy, but the decision to share your experience with others is yours and yours alone. You are free to make the choice to initiate contact and regardless or your decision, there is no judgement either way.
What happens if I can’t make my appointment?
Appointments will ordinarily be 53-57 minutes in duration and will occur on an agreed-upon schedule based on your specific clinical needs. Cancelling an appointment with insufficient notice prevents Northpointe Integrative from scheduling that time slot for other clients. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy in effect once you become a client in this office, which begins when all intake paperwork is completed. It is important to keep all scheduled appointments to ensure continuity of care and to demonstrate commitment to the therapeutic process. Appointments that are canceled or rescheduled with more than 48 hours advance notice will not incur a fee; however, if 48-hour notice is not given, a $75 cancellation fee will be applied to your account. If you fail to show up for a scheduled appointment and do not cancel ahead of time, you will be billed at our full rate of $125. Your insurance does not cover this charge. Cancellations for a Monday appointment should be made no later than Saturday. Cancellations can be emailed to provider or made directly by leaving a message on voicemail.
Late cancellation three or more times in a 2-month period or having two no-show or late cancels in a row, non-emergency-related, may result in termination and referral. Fees will not be waived for a no-call, no-show unless there are extreme circumstances that are agreed upon between you and your clinician. To remove fees, you must provide documentation (e.g., doctor’s note, etc.) to justify the reason for cancellation, within 7 days of the missed appointment. All fees will be charged to the card on file the day of the appointment and will be reversed if proper documentation is given to waive the fee.
